Because of the remote location, travel to the meeting can be exciting adventure as well. Although there is an international airport Tatry-Poprad in a city of Poprad, some 50 km from Javorina. This airport, at present, is among destinations of Czech Airlines (member of SkyTeam), but with flights to Kosice only, and then bus transfer to Poprad. Therefore, the best itinerrary is with Czech Airlines via Prague to Kosice, center of east Slovakia. There are 4-5 flights daily from Prague to Kosice and 10 flights a week from Vienna to Kosice. One can also check web pages of low-cost low-fare airlines SkyEurope, connecting several major European cities with Bratislava, and subsequent flights to Kosice. Optionally, Vienna-Schwechat airport can be used, with subsequent bus transfer to Bratislava, capital of Slovakia. From here, several trains and buses can be used. City of Poprad is a major traffic node with very good train and bus connection. Several buses daily connect Poprad with Javorina.
For those coming by car, we suggest the following itineraries:
From North: Go through the city of Zakopane, close to Polish-Slovak border, and follow signs to Lysa Polana/Javorina on Slovak side.
From East: Kosice-Poprad-Presov-Javorina
From South: Wien-Bratislava (SK)-Poprad-Javorina, or Wien-Budapest-Miskolc-Kosice (SK)-Presov-Poprad-Javorina
From West: Prague-Brno-Olomouc-Zilina (SK)-Ruzomberok-Poprad-JavorinaNote that highway fee has to be paid in Slovakia as well as in the Czech Republic. Highway labels can be purchased at any border crossing.
En excellent way of holiday would be car rental and travelling through Slovakia.
We will do our best to meet all the participants at their arrival to Slovakia and bring them by bus to Javorina. Meeting Point will be on Sunday, June 27, at the Kosice Airport, from where the bus will depart. Departure time will be specified later. However, limited space will be available also for others, arriving to Vienna, Bratislava, or Poprad.
